Story About A Gambling Loan

Instead of a verse from the Bible, I wanted to give a story in response to the topic of homosexuality.

I knew a friend who went to Las Vegas with this girl. This girl liked to gamble a lot, and so, when they went to Vegas, they headed straight for the casinos. After a couple nights gambling, the girl lost all of her money, but she wanted to play more. She went to one of the many loan managers in Vegas to take out a loan. As part of the process to verify good faith for the person taking the loan, the loan manager asked my friend if the loan should be given to the girl.

The response that my friend gave did not determine entirely whether the loan was given or not. The first thing that went through my friend's mind was that, if the girl had enough money, sure why shouldn't she be allowed to take the loan, she could pay it off.

But, if my friend said yes, it would encourage the girl to develop an addiction to gambling (not to say that it would make her a gambling addict).

So, in response to the loan manager, my friend suggested not to lend out the loan to his friend, the girl.

Now, I ask myself, is it right for a loan manager to deny a person a loan soley based on the fact that they may be addicted to gambling (sorta like how a bartender denies a guy from buying if they had too much to drink)? Do you think the girl should sue for being treated unfairly? Is being able to get a loan a right, or is it extended benefits?

It really gets me thinking...
