Not Of An Angel

Hebrews 1:8-14
8But about the Son he says,
"Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever,
and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.
9You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy." 10He also says,
"In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
11They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
12You will roll them up like a robe;
like a garment they will be changed.
But you remain the same,
and your years will never end." 13To which of the angels did God ever say,
"Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet"? 14Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

The prophet here is addressing the splendor and glory of Christ Jesus, the one who brings Salvation. It is addressing the issue of having angels, great as they are, are not meant to be glorified, but to serve, to serve the Lord God. Just as we are. Sometimes we feel like these angels, thinking highly of ourselves, when we need to bow down and serve the almighty God.

When I think of an angel, I think of this great being that comes from nowhere and has all these powers. And so much more is the God that we serve. Christ is more glorified and powerful than any angel around. We can't have this aura of feeling like an angel, thinking of ourselves as great and mighty, but humble ourselves to serve the Lord.

Father, I thank you for your gift of Salvation. I know that you are the one that is glorified. Let me humble myself and think not of myself, but to trust in You. I want to be like a servant that serves you. I want to have you be glorified. I thank you and pray this in Jesus name.
Amen.
