Everyone's A Sheperd

While Jacob was in conversation with them, Rachel came up with her father's sheep. She was the shepherd. The moment Jacob spotted Rachel, daughter of Laban his mother's brother, saw her arriving with his uncle Laban's sheep, he went and single-handedly rolled the stone from the mouth of the well and watered the sheep of his uncle Laban. Then he kissed Rachel and broke into tears. He told Rachel that he was related to her father, that he was Rebekah's son. She ran and told her father. When Laban heard the news—Jacob, his sister's son!—he ran out to meet him, embraced and kissed him and brought him home. Jacob told Laban the story of everything that had happened. Genesis 29:9-13

Never really have I thought about this, but every time I think of a sheperd, I think of a man. In this case, Rachel was a sheperd. A woman, a sheperd. This shows that not jsut men can be a sheperd, but anyone can. Anyone who can take care of the sheeps can be a sheperd. Anyone that can share God's words can be a sheperd.

A sheperd is a leader. Someone that people look to for direction, for questions, for answers. Anyone can be a sheperd. I can be a sheperd, a boy can be a sheperd, a girl can be a sheperd. As long as you know God's words, you can be a sheperd of God.

Lord, let me know your words. Let me know your words so that I may be a sheperd for your people. Give me strength to be a witness for you. Let others see You in my life. I give you all the glory. I pray that you let me grow in you, Lord.
Amen.
