Learned Lessons

Dan 5:18-22
18 "O king, the Most High God gave your father Nebuchadnezzar sovereignty and greatness and glory and splendor. 19 Because of the high position he gave him, all the peoples and nations and men of every language dreaded and feared him. Those the king wanted to put to death, he put to death; those he wanted to spare, he spared; those he wanted to promote, he promoted; and those he wanted to humble, he humbled. 20 But when his heart became arrogant and hardened with pride, he was deposed from his royal throne and stripped of his glory. 21 He was driven away from people and given the mind of an animal; he lived with the wild donkeys and ate grass like cattle; and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven, until he acknowledged that the Most High God is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and sets over them anyone he wishes.

22 "But you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this.

The king, Belshazzar, took the cup that was given to God, and used it to toast to his own gods. God then gave a message, telling him that his life would be taken from him.

Again, looking at the life lesson that this king has learned, is that He has not learned from his mistake. Though he knows of what his father did, and how he humbled himself, this king did not learn anything. God teaches us through situations, and to be more wise in our future.

Father God, this passage that you have revealed to me is unique. In all your words, you are praised and given glory, and even through this passage, you are still glorified. Your words speak of living lives that are according to Your purpose. You want us to grow and learn, and I pray that I may learn more and grow more in You. Let me not be like this king who is ignorant, but to be wise in all my actions. I pray that this is according to Your Holy Spirit. I pray this in Jesus name.
Amen.

Restored In A Humble Heart

Dan 4:37
37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

The king had a dream where he would be driven away from his people and go crazy and start to be like an animal, but later restored and take his throne again. Through this, God was able to turn the king from his wicked ways and focus on God in Heaven.

I like this passage because it shows humility and humbleness in our lives, or the need of it. We are to be humble before God and men. Sometimes, He needs to remind us of it. I would say better to change yourself than to go through what the king went through in order to find humility.

Father God, I thank you for the glory that you have shown me. I praise you with all that I have. Sometimes, I know You deserve more, and I pray that I may give all that I am to glorify your mighty name. You have taken me through many journeys and seasons, and you have shown me how to humble myself. Continue to reveal to me a servant's heart, and renew Your Holy Spirit in me. I pray that this may give you all the honor and glory in Jesus name.
Amen

Doing Things In Excellence

Dan 3:26-27
26 Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!"

So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, 27 and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.

The king ordered the three to be thrown into the blazing fire since they did not follow the king's order to worship the golden idol. God then saves them from the fire and leaves them unharmed.

The God of this Universe is so awesome. Not only does he save the three, but not a single hair on them were touched and nothing harmed, not even smelling like fire. When God does something, it is GOOD.

Father God, you are so awesome. You are the great and mighty and only one true God. I praise you and give you glory. I know that what you have planed is good and perfect. You do everything in excellence, and I pray that I may do so too. Let me have the some mindset that You have. I want to be more like you Jesus. I give you all the honor and glory in Your mighty name.
Amen

The Right Mindset

Dan 2:14-20
14 Then with counsel and wisdom Daniel answered Arioch, the captain of the king’s guard, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon; 15 he answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, “Why is the decree from the king so urgent?” Then Arioch made the decision known to Daniel.
16 So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the interpretation. 17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, 18 that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19 Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
20 Daniel answered and said:

“ Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
For wisdom and might are His.

When the king ordered all the wise men in the nation executed since they were not able to reveal and interpret his dream, Daniel and his friends prayed and asked God to show this to them. When God revealed this to them, they started to thank and praise Him.

When i read this, I think that this is the right way to go about it. Whenever we come to issues in life, we run right to our own strength, but Daniel and his friends went to God, and He revealed it to them. After having it revealed to them, they thanked Him for being so great. We need this mindset.

Father, Lord of the earth, King of all, and Lord of all. You are so great. I pray that I might act like how Daniel and his friends acted, where they go to You, that You may answer. I pray that I may not rely on my own strength, but to have You lead me. I praise you in this. I give you the glory and honor in Jesus name.
Amen.

God Has Given You A Role

Dan 1:21
21 Thus Daniel continued until the first year of King Cyrus.

The people of Judah had been taken captive by the Babylonians. Daniel and his friends were put in the King's service.

I would think after having all your people be captured by another country, you would feel disgruntled, angry, lost of faith. Daniel and his friends knew that God placed them in the King's service for a purpose. They kept their faith in the Lord.

Father, the awesome One, you are so great. Holy is your name. I pray that your purpose in my life be fulfilled. I know that you have set roles in everyone's life and placed them to do great things. I pray for your purpose to be fulfilled. Let your word reach those that are without. I pray this in Jesus mighty name.
Amen.

Great Is It Revealed To Us

Romans 16:25-27
25Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him— 27to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.

God has revealed to us that which was already there. God has always loved us and has always wanted great things for us, yet we did not see it until it was revealed to our understanding.

In the prophets, God spoke of His people and establishing His kingdom. It was already set forth and later was it revealed to us. Sometimes we feel that God is not caring about us, but we just don't how much he cares. He has plans for us, some not yet revealed. We must trust in Him.

Father God, you are the almighty one, the great and only one who deserve all of my praise. I thank you for establishing who You are and the things that are yet to come. So great of those things. I pray that I may trust in You to reveal as it is time to be revealed things that you have planned. I thank you and I pray that Your kingdom come as you set it. I give you all the glory and honor in Jesus name.
Amen.

Take Up Jesus' Ambition

Romans 15:20
20It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation.

Paul speaks of passion and ambition to share the gospel of Jesus to those who have not heard.

This passage reminds me of passion, goals, and ambition. Sometimes, people do not have ambition or motivation. Sometimes, people do have motivation, but in the wrong pursuit. God shows us to take up a passion and ambition to reach the lost. To take up God's heart.

Father God, You are so Holy and Righteous. You are the only one who can be glorified. I give you all of the praise and honor and glory. Lord, I pray that you look into my heart and that you show me what I need to change. Allow me to take up Your heart and Your ambitions, that I may reach the lost and bring others closer to You. Let this be blessed. Let it be fruitful. Be with me. I give you thanks. In Jesus name.
Amen.

Living Right

Romans 14:13-18
13Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. 14As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. 15If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. 16Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil. 17For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.

God shows us how to act and how to live our lives. I like how the last verse here says that we please both God AND approved by men by living right lives.

I feel this is true. If we just live our lives according the Holy Spirit, then not only does it please God, but many times it shows others a positive attitude and character, allowing them to trust and approve of our life in the Lord.

Father, without You, there is nothing else. You are the purpose, you are the perfect one. Your majesty is abound. I want to live this life for You. I pray that i may live a life pleasing and right in Your eyes. It is so amazing that all else comes after. You are so good. Help me to do this. I pray this in Jesus name.
Amen

Dispose Of Distractions

Romans 13:11-14
11-14But make sure that you don't get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. We can't afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don't loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about!

The things of this world is really a big distraction from focusing on God. It is very easy to lose track of God's purpose in our lives, the love that He has done for us, the plans He has for us.

This passage urges us to focus and not get sidetracked, but to continue our lives in Christ Jesus. We must not indulge ourselves in that of the world, but to live in the call of Jesus.

Father God, I thank you for this passage. Your words are so refreshing to hear. You speak into the lives of your servant, and I thank you for fueling the Spirit to continue to look more to You. I pray that the world's distractions become less, and You become more. I pray that Your words guide me and lead me. I need more of You. Holy Spirit lead the way. I declare this in the name of Jesus.
Amen.

God's Giftings To Be Used To Give Him Glory

Romans 12:5-8
5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

This passage is part of Paul's letter of living our lives as sacrifices. Each person has a role and purpose that God has given to them. We may live for Christ through the purpose and gifting that He has called us for.

When I read this passage, I think that, not only is it important to use your gifting to glorify God, but it is just as important to first of all know what your gifting is. In finding it, use it with all your heart, mind, and spirit to glorify Jesus.

Father God, You are so awesome. You are the greatest. I thank you for gifts and talent that you have given to me. I thank you for all of it. Allow me to use it to please You and to further Your kingdom and purpose. I thank you so much. Lord, bless it multiple times, let it be fruitful. I give you all of the praise and glory in Jesus Mighty name.
Amen.

Doxology - Words Of Praise To Jesus

Romans 11:33-36
Doxology
33Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
34"Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?"
35"Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay him?"
36For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Right at the end of this chapter, Paul speaks of God's mercy to the people, both to Gentiles, as well as to the Jews. Afterward, it is so fitting to express words of glory and praise to God through this hymn.

I don't think we give glory to God enough. We can always praise Him more and more each day for all that he has done, is doing, and will do. At the end of the chapter, Paul just gives praise to God. Sometimes, I need to just give praises to God.

Father, Christ Jesus, You are so awesome. You are the perfecter and finisher. I can never give You more praise than You deserve. You deserve it all. I thank you for reminding me to take time out to appreciate You. I love you, Jesus. You have given me the hope and faith to continue on. You have blessed me with so much. I give you thanks. You are so huge, I can never grasp you. I can only enjoy who you are. Thank you Jesus. I give you all the honor and glory and praise.
Amen.

Salvation Through Faith

Romans 10:9-10
9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Paul is comparing the unbelieving person to one that is trusting in God. He says one that believes not only does what the law says, but undoubtedly declares through faith that Jesus is their Savior.

It is not the act of believing and saying, but the faith that is bestowed behind the act that gives ones life to Jesus. When we are lacking in faith, by the help of the Holy Spirit, we may believe in faith that Jesus is Lord.

Father God, awesome is Your name. You are the only one who deserves the praises that we give. No one else is gloried more than You, because you are the almighty God. I declare right now that You are my Savior, my Redeemer, my God. I thank you so much for being who you are. I give you all the honor and glory. Let your will be done. In Jesus Mighty name.
Amen.

Don't Be Busy Bodies

Romans 9:30-33
30 What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith; 31 but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. 32 Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. 33 As it is written:

“ Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense,
And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

Paul shows us passion for the Jews, his own people, as they are lost and need to be led back to Christ. He displays his emotions here, showing them that they have it all wrong, that it is not by works, but by faith that they may come to know the Lord.

I like how this passage signifies how men behave. It shows that we, or people represented by the Jews, work for righteousness, so much that we can't see what is in front of us. Jesus is in front of us and we can't see it since we are being busy bodies doing things to be righteous, but Jesus offers grace of Salvation to God.

God, You are so awesome. You are the Lord of all the Universe. I thank you for what you have blessed me with and I thank you for the Love that you have shown me. Thank you for this passage to remind me that You are right here for me, giving me the grace of Salvation through faith. I pray that I may not be blinded by busyness, but to put my focus on You. I thank you so much, and I love you Jesus. In Your mighty and glory name I pray this.
Amen.
