A Wise Man Chooses God's Way

Prov 14:12
12 There is a way that seems right to a man,
but in the end it leads to death.

The way that this verse is referring to is one that is away from God. The man does his own thing. This leads to death.

We are to keep our lives aligned with God, to have Him lead. Sometimes it may be things that we do not understand, but in the end it leads to a full and abundant life.

Father God, I pray for a way that is lead by You. I thank you for this verse, a reminder to me to have You lead and not myself. I ask you, Lord of my life, Lord of the heavens and the earth, that You lead me into Your ways. Lead me into Your plans for me. I ask that you be with me, through it all, and that You may be glorified. I thank you, and I pray this in Jesus Holy name.
Amen.

Praising God's Love In This Generation

Psalms 89:1
I will sing of the Lord's great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.

This is such an awesome song of praise to the Lord. It shows the heart of the worshiper and of the glory of God's love.

The Lord's love is great. I have the opportunity to be a witness to my generation the Love that God is.

Father God, I pray for this generation. I pray for your power and glory to be known to a generation that is lost. I ask that You may make me a light to these people. I want you to be made known. Let me decrease so that You may increase. I pray this in Your glorious name.
Amen.

Displaying God Through Our Lives

1 King 10:1-5
1 When the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relation to the name of the LORD, she came to test him with hard questions. 2 Arriving at Jerusalem with a very great caravan—with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones—she came to Solomon and talked with him about all that she had on her mind. 3 Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her. 4 When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the palace he had built, 5 the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he made at the temple of the LORD, she was overwhelmed.

The queen of Sheba came to Solomon to see if everything that she heard was true. When she visited, she realized all was true, and that God was with Solomon. She recognized the great God through what He had done in Solomon's life.

I want my life to also be an testament of what God is doing. I need to have a life that is so close to God, and so evident that He is real in my life, and maybe, just maybe, others may see that God is so real.

Father God, I pray this prayer that you may be shown through me. Allow my life to be a reflection of who You are, and the mighty things that display your glory and power. I ask that others may come to know that You are who You say You are. I pray that you may be gloried in all this, in Jesus Holy and Mighty name.
Amen.

The Power Of God's Words Spoken Forth

2 Chron 6:4
4 Then he said:
"Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his hands has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to my father David. For he said,

Solomon is speaking about building God's temple, and just starting off with praises to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He speaks and His words are set forth.

God's words are so powerful. He is able to speak, and His promises will endure forever through time. God only needs to speak for it to come to pass.

Father God, your words are so great, your mouth that is spoken reaches to the end of the earth. I pray that your powerful words come forth and that your words of glory and honor be filled in everything that it is spoken from. You are so great. Let your words be heard from all and that you be gloried. I pray this in Jesus name.
Amen.

Being A Busybody Or Living A Meaningful Life

2 Thess 3:11-13
11We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. 13And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right.

Paul is teaching the people of the church to not be consumers of the word, but to be effective Christians that do what is right. To work hard, to live a life that is meaningful.

This passage gets me to reflect back on my life in this season, and see if I was a busybody or someone that is living a meaningful life. I can honestly say that God has done great things in my life, and that he has more plans for me. I must never tire of doing what is right.

Father God, my Lord and my Savior, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the God of this Universe, You have done great things in my life. You have led me in through so much, and I thank you that you continue to lead me through this great adventure. I ask that you continue to watch over me and have your hand on my life. Bless it as you have blessed me with much, and I pray that I may glorify you in all that I do. I pray this in Jesus name.
Amen.

Continuing To Speak Truth Into Hardened Hearts

2 Thess 2:9-10
9The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.

People perish because they refuse to receive and accept the truth of Jesus Christ. It is difficult to speak truth into the lives of people who refuse.

Our role is not to try and save people, but to speak truth into their lives. It is the Holy Spirit's role to move their hearts and ultimately Jesus that saves. Some people may have hardened heart to refuse, but we need to continue to love and speak truth into their lives.

Father God, the God of heaven and earth, I pray this prayer in accordance to those that do not know you as Lord and Savior. I pray for those that refuse You, have a open heart. I pray that one day, they may receive you into their lives. I ask that You continue to show yourself to them, so that they may come to know You. I ask that you use me to speak truth and life into their lives. I want to glorify you in this in Jesus name.
Amen.

Living A Life Pleasing To God

1 Thess 4:7-8
7For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

The author of Thessalonians is telling us to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. This includes living a pure life, a life that is holy. As the author mentions, it is according to God, not what men say.

This is another reminder to me to live life pleasing to Him. It is tough at times since we always think about ourselves and our own wants and needs, but we need to consider what God wants for us in our lives.

Father God, I pray over my life to be a pleasing sacrifice for You. I ask that I may consider not my own needs and wants, but to ask what your will is in my life. I pray that I may listen and decide according your Your Holy Spirit. I want to glorify you in Jesus name.
Amen.

Following God And Having Others Doing God's Work

1 Chron 22:14-16
14 "I have taken great pains to provide for the temple of the LORD a hundred thousand talents [b] of gold, a million talents of silver, quantities of bronze and iron too great to be weighed, and wood and stone. And you may add to them. 15 You have many workmen: stonecutters, masons and carpenters, as well as men skilled in every kind of work 16 in gold and silver, bronze and iron—craftsmen beyond number. Now begin the work, and the LORD be with you."

David is speaking to his son Solomon and telling him that the Lord is not going to have David build the Lord's temple, but to have Solomon build it. Although David went through so much to prepare to build the temple, God showed him His will and David stopped and allowed his son to continue to finish the work.

I feel like being in this situation, where I would put so much work into building God's "temple" and then to leave it to another. If God has called me to leave the work of His ministry, then I know that His will be done.

Father God, I pray for the work of what You are doing here in the ministry. I pray for a blessing over it. I know that I may not continue your works here, but I pray that you finish the work that is to glorify You. I ask for your direction in my life, and I pray for a rising of Your people to do great things. I give you glory in Jesus name.
Amen.

Seeking God's Face Instead Of Relying On Own Strength

2 Sam 21:1
1 During the reign of David, there was a famine for three successive years; so David sought the face of the LORD. The LORD said, "It is on account of Saul and his blood-stained house; it is because he put the Gibeonites to death."

David was in a tough time for his country. There was a famine, which is beyond his power to solve. He went and sought the face of God.

So many times when we are in trouble, we rely on our own selves, and we try to fix things our own ways. David went to seek God, and seek His face. I need to do that as well.

Lord God, you have revealed your words to me through this passage. It is true that I rely on my own strength so much, and that You are letting me know to trust more in You. I ask for your guidance and for your strength. I need to discipline myself to seek you in these times, instead of relying on my own strength. Thank you Lord for being there. I pray in in Jesus name.
Amen.

Casting All Doubts Aside

Matt 28:16-17
16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.

Here, Jesus resurrected from the dead, and he shows himself to his disciples. Although he shows himself, some of them still doubted.

People always doubt things. Even though they say that they will believe it when they see it, that is not always the case, since there will still be doubt. I need to cast out any doubts in my spirit, and put it all into trusting the Lord.

Father God, I trust you and I believe in You. I know that you will do great things. I pray that you may cast out any doubts in my mind, and that I may totally know in spirit and truth that I am walking your purpose for me. I thank you, and I want to glorify you in Jesus name.
Amen.

Focus, Redirect, Decisions From The Lord

Matt 27:15-23
15Now it was the governor's custom at the Feast to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd. 16At that time they had a notorious prisoner, called Barabbas. 17So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, "Which one do you want me to release to you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?" 18For he knew it was out of envy that they had handed Jesus over to him.

19While Pilate was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message: "Don't have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him."

20But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.

21"Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" asked the governor.
"Barabbas," they answered.

22"What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked.
They all answered, "Crucify him!"

23"Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate.
But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"

What would have drove the people to have such clouded judgements to release a notorious murderer instead of Jesus? Pilate released Jesus into the hands of the people, as the people wanted.

Sometimes, we would get so caught up in life and our troubles, and what we want, and what we feel is fair for us, that we don't see the bigger picture. We don't see God's plans for us. We ignore it, even though it leads to negative consequences. I need to focus, to redirect, and to draw my decisions from the Lord.

Father God, I pray for your Holy Spirit. I ask that you focus me, to redirect my path, and that I may draw strength from you to follow your plans for me. I ask this in faith, that you may be evident in my life. I thank you for what you are going to do. I pray that you speak life into me. I thank you Lord for your forgiveness in me. I pray this in Jesus name.
Amen.

Expectations in Jesus Over Our Own Expectations

Matt 26: 14-16
14Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests 15and asked, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?" So they counted out for him thirty silver coins. 16From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

Judas Iscariot went to the chief priests to betray Jesus. He accepted their money in order to hand Him over to them. I wanted to look at the cause of this, why Judas would do such a thing. Earlier in chapter 26, Jesus said that he will be crucified. Judas thinks that the messiah is suppose to bring Israel back on top, politically and military. Hearing Jesus say this may cause his expectations to drop.

Sometimes, our hopes and our expectations of people and situations may not be what it is. We expect things that may not be right to expect. That is when we find disappointment. We should expect great things, but not in the world, but expecting it according to what Jesus will.

Father God, I pray for your expected will. Let me have a heart according to your own. I know that you are the Lord of the Universe. I ask that I may not put my faith in earthly things, but to put my faith in You alone. I ask this in Jesus name.
Amen.

Praising You Even Through Unanswered Prayer

2 Sam 12:19-23
19 David noticed that his servants were whispering among themselves and he realized the child was dead. "Is the child dead?" he asked.
"Yes," they replied, "he is dead."

20 Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate.

21 His servants asked him, "Why are you acting this way? While the child was alive, you fasted and wept, but now that the child is dead, you get up and eat!"

22 He answered, "While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, 'Who knows? The LORD may be gracious to me and let the child live.' 23 But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me."

David was fasting and praying to the Lord so petition to save his son. When his son died, he got up and praised God and started to eat and drink.

Sometimes, when God may not allow our prayers to be answered the way that we want. Although we pray and seek and fast, it may not be according to His will. Although we may not get what we want, we should still give God glory and praise in the end.

Father God, I ask that you may hear my cry to you. I know that sometimes I can get selfish, but I pray that in the end, it may be according to your will. I ask that you be gracious to me. Allow me to know your heart. I give you glory in Jesus name.
Amen.

A Prayer With Great Faith

Matt 21:21-22
21Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. 22If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

Jesus again speaks about prayer, and faith, and how the two of them go hand in hand. You need faith in your prayers to allow God to move in a mighty way.

Sometimes, my prayer life is not that great. I know that I need to trust in the Lord and have faith that Jesus will move in great and mighty ways.

Father God, I thank you for your words. I ask that my faith in You be so strong, that I may pray in faith and seek you in faith and know that you will move. I pray that you may be glorified. I pray this in Jesus mighty and holy name.
Amen.
